Seignanx in the West

Leaving Kiwi Valley and heading towards the ocean, you cross the Seignanx region to the beaches of Ondres and Tarnos (about 30 minutes from Peyrehorade). Each has its own:

Ondres-Océan offers numerous shops and services: restaurants, an ice cream parlor, a guinguette, surf schools, restrooms, beach volleyball courts, gellyball courts, a children's playground, a campervan area, free car parking, and a supervised bicycle parking area in summer. The beach is supervised from mid-June to mid-September. If you prefer the forest to the beach, simply walk up the beach avenue for about 1 kilometer (Rond-Point de la Montagne) to reach the start of marked hiking trails or bike rentals.

Tarnos Metro Beach is more "wild," although it offers the bare minimum: food (sweet and savory) in season, restrooms, free parking, and a supervised bicycle parking area in summer. It is supervised from mid-June to mid-September. Bicycle rentals are also available, just a few meters before entering the beach parking lot.

Finally, Digue Beach, which, as its name suggests, provides access to the incredible seawall that protects the mouth of the Adour River. One kilometer long and very popular with locals, it offers a short stroll with an exceptional view of the Basque and Landes coasts. There are few amenities at this location (food trucks, restrooms), but the beach is supervised in July and August.

On your way to or from the beach, the villages of Seignanx are definitely worth a visit. They offer beautiful short walks in the forest or along the Adour river, as well as a few gems: the lookout point overlooking the Pyrenees (Saint-Barthélemy promontory), the Jardin Buissonnier (Buissonnier Garden) of the CPIE (Saint-Martin-de-Seignanx), the Café Terra community restaurant (Saint-André-de-Seignanx), Banzaï Paintball (Saint-Laurent-de-Gosse), and the market on the first Sunday of each month in Biaudos.
